I’m always hesitant to go see sequels that are not initially a part of a film project, and while The Devil Wears Prada 2 was not my favourite sequel, it was an enjoyable hour and fifty-nine minutes, filled with beautiful clothes, my queen Meryl Streep and three new songs by Lady Gaga.
Queue the soundtrack and let’s jump right in!
As far as the plot goes, it was a classic sequel where you knew everything was going to wrap up seamlessly. I thought there was no chemistry between Anne Hathaway and her love interest, Patrick Brammall, but performances by Emily Blunt, Simone Ashley and Stanley Tucci easily made up for that. Of course, Meryl Streep was incredible, I just wish that she had a more compelling storyline in the film.

Standout Music Moments
Runway – Lady Gaga and Doechii – Of the three new Lady Gaga songs created for the film, this was by far my favourite. To me, this track perfectly sums up a runway fashion track. With pop-heavy beats that you could easily strut to. I am also a huge Doechii fan, so I may be biased to this song (if you haven’t seen her Grammy performance, check it out)!
Material Lover – Sienna Spiro – Like the Lady Gaga tracks, Material Lover was also created specifically for The Devil Wears Prada 2 and has risen to mainstream success on the charts and TikTok. The track is easy-going with a rom-com vibe, perfect for the film. Sienna Spiro is an up-and-coming artist, and I think this track will solidify her in the music scene.
Vogue (Bette Davis Dub) – Madonna – You can’t have a fashion movie without Vogue! This track was not included on the official soundtrack but was featured in the film. It is flawlessly played while the characters are in Milan, running from event to event for fashion week. I love that this track was included in the film since it was heavily featured in the original The Devil Wears Prada.
Lady Gaga in the devil wears prada
Another fun music moment was Lady Gaga’s cameo in the film. While I found her performance in the Milan fashion week show a bit on the nose, I really enjoyed her scene with Meryl Streep. In the film, Lady Gaga plays a larger-than-life diva version of herself. Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly has some unknown beef with Lady Gaga, and seeing the two of them having a passive-aggressive conversation in Gaga’s dressing room before her performance was hilarious. I would have loved to have learnt more about the drama between the two characters!
If you are looking for a fun rom-com movie experience with a soundtrack to match, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is the movie for you. Filled with gorgeous visuals and pop music, you’ll strut away in a good mood.
