Three things come to my mind when I think of Euphoria: the raw storylines, the unique makeup and the music by Labrinth. We are almost at the end of season three, and if you haven’t kept up with the headlines, you would have definitely heard a shift in the series music. Because of differences with creator Sam Levinson, Labrinth has not been a part of season three, and it makes me question if Euphoria really feels like Euphoria without him.

Ok, let’s go back, just in case you don’t know the tea.
In the summer of 2025, it was announced that the incredible Hans Zimmer would be joining Euphoria as a composer, as well as music by Labrinth. Fast forward to March 2026, Labrinth posted on Instagram (now deleted) just weeks before the series premiere, “I’m done with this industry. Fuck Columbia. Double fuck ‘Euphoria.’ I’m out. Thank you and good night x.”
An Instagram story posted by Labrinth explaining why he was no longer a part of Euphoria. It is very clear that something big went down between Levinson and Labrinth.

With Labrinth’s music being removed from season three, the series has turned to Hans Zimmer to set the tone. Now, I am a huge fan of Hans Zimmer; he has composed some iconic works like Gladiator and The Dark Knight, to name a few. But for Euphoria I find myself missing Labrinth’s pop heavy tracks.
In Euphoria’s third season, we jump five years into the future, so it makes sense that we are seeing a change in the characters and show. This season, we are seeing heavy Western and cowboy themes, which are being reflected beautifully in Zimmer’s score.
In general, the score is sweeping and cinematic, very fitting, especially during dramatic scenes set in the California desert. However, there are moments in the series that just aren’t working for me musically.
A moment that I found disappointing was when Maddy made her entrance at Nate and Cassie’s wedding in Episode 3. The score was light and tropical, almost sounding as if it could have been a part of The White Lotus score.
In my opinion, this should have been an intense anthem that Maddy entered to, especially with her history with Nate and the jaw-dropping dress she wore to his wedding. Instead, the soft and airy score by Zimmer played, and the scene fell flat for me.
Ironically, on Euphoria’s season premiere, Labrinth released a new single called SHUT YOUR DAMN 95.7829. This single and it’s cheeky release date made me wonder if it was meant for the show. Take a look at the TikTok below…
You have to admit it works perfectly! And is that a hint of the Bridal Chorus I hear?! It really makes me think Labrinth created this track for Euphoria.
To me, Euphoria just doesn’t feel the same without Labrinth. His music helped shape the series and is one of the reasons it was so successful. While I am still enjoying the score by Hans Zimmer, I can’t help but miss and wonder what this season would have sounded like with Labrinth’s tracks.
